Installation, 160 clay containers

stays

This immersive installation presents a physical space made from the use of simple and modest elements such as clay and light from candles that surround the viewer causing the perceptions of space and time to be lost, it is an almost spiritual experience that seeks to connect the viewer with their own inner present time. It is a mediation space that demonstrates how in order to achieve this connection with our present we do not need great events or spectacular tools.

From my point of view, the fascinating and truly valuable things in life happen when we are waiting for the spectacular to happen. In the simplest moments, when nothing seems to happen, is where the great things really are, because it is only in this moments that we manage to live the true present time.

It is believed that ensuring a period in which nothing seems to happen implies a process of disconnection from the devices that surround us. It would seem easy then to live in the now; However, we live in a society motivated by the pressure of a incomprehensible acceleration linked to new technologies. Time usually passes by and we don't go with it, the feeling of wanting to contain it is similar to the impossible task of preventing water from passing through our fingers.

The eagerness from the idea of running out of time conspires against the real possibility that we have to live fully the little or much time we have left, so any time is then perceived as little. This happens not only in certain sectors of society, it has spread to all its spheres including the field of art. That is why I question not only the way we live and interact with each other, but also the way I do my work as an artist.   Although it is the result of a process carried out under the conditions of our current times, my work tries to generate an alternative to them, creating a space for reflection and thought in the now.
