DO YOU PAINT OR DO YOU DRAW?
artist book
Do you paint or do you draw? is an artist book that explores the ten- sion between time and an artist’s productivity within now a day’s capitalistic values. The narrative is divided into two parts; a dialogue that is held in the public sphere which is taken from real life conversations and is written with a tint of sarcasm and an inner talk of an artist which is an intimate poetic short text.
This is a thought-provoking piece that challenges the prevailing capitalist notions of art and the confronting nature of being an artist in a society driven by economic values. It invites to reflect upon what artists time is invested in and poses questions over the encounter between the insides of an artists process and the public sphere. How can an artist explain his/her own practice in today’s context?
